possible microsoft attack to linux related sites

The next chat reflects clearly the issue: It was documnted on IRC->FreeNode->#ubuntuforums. Looks like Microsoft is paying internet service providers to redirect an unknown spectrum of sites to microsoft.com. That when users use the proper ISP DNS.
Here is one registered episode.

* Now talking on #ubuntuforums
eviln_one> what is wrong with ubuntuforums.org ? who is sh***ng this site
eviln_one> some thing is wrong with ubuntuforums.org ? or im getting stupid
eviln_one> redirects to microsoft.com
eviln_one> because this s**t will be reported as historical. "when microsofters stealed ubuntuforums.org"
Bachstelze> works fine here, d**
eviln_one> im getting redirected to http://ubuntuforums.org/en/us/default.aspx which is the same as http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx
eviln_one> not kidding.
eviln_one> im not crazy. d**n
Joeb454> eviln_one: works here as well
eviln_one> Joeb454: now seems to work god, but do you see the "M" MS logo as ico?
Joeb454> nope
eviln_one> the fact was that some one did some s**t stupid. will see in the news.
Joeb454> eviln_one: when did the issue start, and are you sure it wasn't *your* DNS?
Joeb454> I haven't had any issues at all, and I'm pretty sure we'd have seen it long before now if it was actually a widespread issue
jdong> there's no such URL as en/us/default.aspx on any of our servers
jdong> that leads me to believe either your local DNS cache or DNS server has decided to resolve ubuntuforums.org to microsoft.com
eviln_one> the page i saw mixed microsoft content whit ubuntuforums content.
jdong> hmm the page that loads is indeed the forum index
jdong> but with relative URLs to images from "images/misc/..."
jdong> I have no idea why that'd lead to Microsoft contents showing
jdong> why were you at /en/us/default.aspx anyway on our server?
eviln_one> qhen i entered ubuntuforums.org redirected to http://ubuntuforums.org/en/us/default.aspx
Joeb454> sounds very much like a dodgy DNS issue
eviln_one> but mixed content?
jdong> local cache with legit data
eviln_one> ok. thanks jdong
jdong> no problem :)
jdong> could be someone on your LAN or at your ISP playing a mean joke, could just be a computer glitch
eviln_one> jdong: i just changed my DNS to be my ISP. thats the reason
eviln_one> f****s. will kill them
jussi01> !language | eviln_one
ubottu> eviln_one: Please watch your language and topic to help keep this channel family friendly.
jdong> eviln_one: yup, then it sounds like most like someone on your LAN thought it'd be funny to redirect ubuntuforums.org to microsoft.com
eviln_one> ok sorry every one.
eviln_one> or maybe lots of sites to microsoft.com
eviln_one> maybe only linux related sites.
